10 PRJCT - FINAL DAY

AS FAR AS STRANGENESS WAS CONCERNED THEY WERE WELL EQUIPPED WITH THE ORDINARY

PROJECT STATEMENT:
In order to take full advantage of the space I decided to scale up and explore a more gestural performative means of mark making. Within the space there are no windows and the only light source is artificial which led me to explore working in both the artificial lighting as well as in total darkness.
For this project I have interpreted the loose theme of 10 as binary oppositions. The 1 and 0 being represented through my use of black and white with the source of data used in the construction of the works being drawn (literally) from an undocumented 10 second performance performed in isolation.
ABOUT 10 PRJCT:
TEN PRJCT is a project with ten different artists over ten weeks in one space. Each artist has control over the space for one week and at the end of the week (between 11-2pm each Monday) they will exhibit a body of work made in the space for the space.
10 PRJCT AIMS:
The aim of 10 PRJCT is to challenge artists to construct a fresh body of work which may exist in any form within one week. This time pressured environment aims to force the artists practice into new areas of exploration and expression to harness spontaneity and enable new lines of enquiry and research to develop.
10 PRJCT is also an opportunity for artists to hold a solo pop up exhibition in which the artist can present work to an audience to obtain feedback and comments on the work.
See below for a short video and a selection of images which document the pop up exhibition of work:
